Biography
Rodeina Fouad is a visual artist and curator based in Cairo, Egypt. She holds a B.A. in Visual Arts and Political Science from the American University in Cairo. Her practice spans multimedia installation, video, drawing, and collaborative projects, and is informed by research-based methodologies that engage with archival material, political structures, and historical narratives.
Fouad’s work investigates how systems of knowledge are constructed, fragmented, and reinterpreted over time. Through layered installations and moving-image works, she develops visual environments that explore memory, documentation, and the instability of narrative. Her practice often operates at the intersection of personal and collective histories, using material and conceptual strategies to question how meaning is produced and circulated.
She has exhibited widely in Egypt and internationally. Alongside her artistic practice, she has coordinated and curated multiple exhibitions and currently works as a curator.
Artist Statement
Rodeina Fouad’s practice operates through multimedia installations that investigate the instability of narrative, memory, and constructed systems of knowledge. Working across video, installation, and material-based works, she builds layered environments that reflect on archival fragmentation, political structures, and the tension between personal and collective histories.
Her works emerge from research-driven processes that translate complex socio-political and philosophical questions into visual forms. Rather than offering fixed interpretations, her practice constructs open-ended systems where meaning remains in flux. Through repetition, fragmentation, and hybrid visual languages, Fouad examines how histories are recorded, distorted, and reassembled, and how these processes shape contemporary subjectivities.
